This game has a prototype article

Postal III is a cautionary tale for why having no regrets isn't always a good thing.

To do:
  • Everything. This game is a horrific mess that barely limped over the finishing line. It's probably mostly unfinished stuff.

  • 5Unused Models
  • 7Unused Textures

Sub-Pages

  • (3) Ensure unit personnel notify the UMR, Community or Consolidated Mail Room (CMR) or Postal Service Center (PSC) of a change in status that affects their mail delivery. (4) Notify the local servicing post office as soon as possible about a deployment and coordinate any required mail.
  • I bought Postal 3. Not because I thought I'd enjoy it but I was just interested in why people thought it was terrible and it was only 9 dollars. When I tried to launch it, my virus software kept detecting a virus and from than point it never launched. I've put in a request to refund it on the basis it didn't launch.
Prototype Info
Postal

Unlike its predecessors, Postal III is played in a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective with a cover system and regenerating health. Another notable change is that Postal III is fairly linear compared to POSTAL 2 with any open world elements left in an unlockable free roam mode. Platinum Collection Build Your Own Bundle.

Unused Voice Actor

Shortly after the first press demos were completed, the original actor for the Postal Dude, Rick Hunter, had to leave the project due to obligations elsewhere. The stuff he recorded for the game is still present in the data files, and a good chunk of it was eventually snuck into Postal 2 Complete in a patch.

To do:
Rip, convert and upload raw files if they're still in the game

Development-Related Text

Original
Translated

A developer message in Russian telling them to put environment map directories in a .vmt file.

Unused Text

unusedcontent.cfg

A leftover from Portal 2. Its purpose is unknown.

Unused Models

Most Unused models are from old character designs or scrapped ideas.

Early Player Model

An early, surprisingly different version of the Dude's player model can be found in models/main_menu/dude_main_menu.mdl. The version found in the finished game lacks the lower half of his trenchcoat, and only has a single animation, for the main menu lazing around.

Unused Test Town Hotel Models

The final game still has models from the test town hotel. These are all still in the game files due to Postal 3 still technically being in development when it released.

Postal 3

  • TestTown Hotel Sign

  • TestTown Hotel Bar

  • TestTown Hotel's Entry

Maxel

In a folder named 'Postal Rage', you can find a character named 'Maxel', he looks very different to everyone in the entire game. interestingly, in a developer screenshot, the developer is playing as Maxel, which most likely means Maxel was going to be the protagonist of Postal 3 (Postal Rage internally).

Unused Video

A placeholder video in the media folder, just a white backrground with the text 'cutscene in progress'.

Unused Textures

Postal III has many unused textures. Many are leftovers from scrapped ideas.

Bloody Hippie Dude Textures

Postal 3 Steam

inside the 'Cutscenes' folder of the 'Characters' material file, there are unused bloody textures for the Hippie Dude in both cutscenes of the Cat hunting mission.

  • The Texture.

Postal 32256

Bloody UN Soldier Textures

The United Nations soldier has two unused bloody versions of their textures, it is not known what this was going to be used for.

  • Uniform.

  • Head Texture.

Unused Spade Textures

Originally, the shovel was intended to be a spade. The textures for this original 'shovel' design are still in the game

Unused Fat SWAT Textures

These textures, along with concept art, are the only remnants of M_Big_SWAT, A character made and scrapped very early in development.

  • Body

  • Head

  • Teeth

Unused Sounds

The game's unfinished state means there's a fair few sounds that go unused, some of them from early builds of the game.
